PARADISE JUNCTION is a bluegrass band formed in 1996 in Orange County, California. The band has performed in many venues throughout southern and central California. Appearing regularly at the Orange County Fair, they were the first place winners in the ’99 Los Angeles County Fair band contest. The band specializes in good, clean, family entertainment with an emphasis on having fun. Their repertoire includes a variety of material from traditional and gospel, to contemporary bluegrass, all in an acoustic format. In addition to the instruments, their music includes 3 part harmony vocals.

Band Member Profiles

Terre Barbin – Rhythm Guitar - Vocals - was born and raised in southern Texas. It was a short move to Cheyenne, Wyoming at the age of 11, where she started singing and playing guitar with a grade school folk group and with the All Cities Children Choir. Her love for music continued through the years as she sang with various folk, rock, and gospel groups. Terre’s association with bluegrass began in 1995 when she joined Paradise Junction as a singer and guitar player. Terre is now involved in writing songs for the band also. She has developed a great love for the traditional and progressive blend of the bluegrass music of Paradise Junction.

Marcia Bruno – Bass - Vocals - was born in the state of Colorado, near a little town called Cripple Creek. She remembers “goin up Cripple Creek” at a very early age. Marcia plays several instruments, but started out as a child playing the accordion. She started performing on stage at the age of 11. Since that time she has played the piano and organ for several bands, and she has been a church pianist and organist. She started playing bass in 1995 as she joined Paradise Junction and now also plays the guitar and writes songs for the band. Since she started playing the bass, bluegrass music has become a very significant part of her life.

Eric Nahrwold – Banjo – Lead Guitar – Vocals - was born in the state of New York. He has been a bluegrass fan since he saw Dan Crary, John Hickman, and Byron Berline perform at the Cal State Fullerton Pub in the late 70’s. His favorite musical influences include: California, Bill Monroe, Flatt & Scruggs, Guy Clark, John Prine, Credence Clearwater Revival, Johnny Cash, and many others.

Larry Holt – Mandolin – Lead Guitar - Band Leader
- was born in the town of Nowata, a small farming town in northeastern Oklahoma. Growing up on a farm in Oklahoma and a ranch in central California, country and bluegrass music was always a part of his family’s life. Larry’s first band experience was playing rhythm guitar in a country gospel band at the age of 16. He has gone on to play Travis style lead guitar for several different southern gospel bands around southern California. In the early 1990’s he started playing mandolin and formed Paradise Junction along with Marcia, Terre, and Eric in 1995.
